Day 1 Monday September 10 2001
Arrived LA-X 6:30AM and got picked up by Adam. Drove down to Huntington Beach (flat out for 30 minutes down the 405) and checked into the same hotel as Adam (Quality Inn). Went for a walk around Huntington Beach (the home of Baywatch) and had breakfast at the Sugar Shack. Walked a bit more then went back for a sleep as we were tired from the flight. Then went back out and walked up the pier and had lunch at "Rubys" and my "Bacon Cheese burger with chicken and a 'half-serve' of Chilli Fries with Chocolate milkshake" was HUUUGE! And no I didn't finish it... Checked out a bit more of the place then went back to the Hotel and Adam came back from work so we went for dinner at "Dukes" on the beach - and came nowhere finishing that meal either... (I have never seen a plate of Nachos so BIG!)
Americans like everything BIG! Cars (especially), meals, stomachs... Unsure about the brains being big though :)
They also have a totally irrational currency here – all those people who complained about the release of the one and two dollar coins and plastic notes should come here for a few weeks and try out this dodgy same sized paper money and annoying coins!
